Vision 2030
Overview
From September 2024 to March 2025, I completed my co-op with the Public Health Agency of Canada as a graphic designer. One of my key projects was designing the Vision 2030 report cover and supporting visuals, as well as formatting the report with Adobe InDesign to prepare the final version for web and print. This included creating custom illustrations of notable Canadian landmarks, such as Mac the Moose Statue, Lake Louise, and the lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove, as well as developing the “System of Systems” figure in close collaboration with public health surveillance professionals.

Objectives
The goal of the Vision 2030 report was to present a clear, engaging, and visually cohesive representation of Canada’s long-term public health surveillance strategy. My role was to ensure that complex systems, like the “System of Systems” framework, were visually accessible to a wide audience, from policymakers to the general public, while still reflecting a distinctly Canadian identity. This meant balancing aesthetic appeal, accuracy, and clarity in all visual elements.
System of Systems Figure
Tools & Software
 - Adobe Illustrator – for vector-based custom illustrations of Canadian landmarks and detailed infographic elements.
 - Adobe InDesign – for full layout design of the report cover and integration of visuals into the publication.
 - Procreate – for initial sketching and refinement of the hand-drawn illustration elements before vectorizing.
Solution
I approached the design with a strong emphasis on national identity and clarity of information. For the cover, I incorporated hand-drawn Canadian landmarks to give the report a recognizable and approachable look. The System of Systems figure was developed through iterative feedback with surveillance experts, ensuring the visual structure accurately reflected the interconnected processes of governance, interoperability, and public health purposes. By combining clean vector graphics with organic illustration styles, the final design communicates professionalism while remaining approachable and memorable.
